Installation & Foundation Guide Due to its 4.25-metre length and 200kg total mass, this water feature performs best when installed along a natural garden slope or an engineered, terraced incline. Establish a firm, thoroughly compacted base of crusher run, pea gravel, or leveled concrete pavers beneath the reservoir and each stream tier to prevent shifting or settling over time. Verify with a spirit level that each overlapping section angles slightly forward into the next. Connect a high-flow submersible pond pump within the Misty Pond basin and route flexible, heavy-duty pond piping back to the inlet on the Cascade Top (pump and hosing sold separately).
Maintenance & Care
- Ensure the water level in the Misty Pond is kept topped up to keep the submersible pump intake fully submerged during operation.
- Periodically clear fallen autumn leaves, grass clippings, and twigs along the stream bed and pump suction cage.
- Treat with a concrete-friendly, fish- and bird-safe algaecide to prevent green buildup along the cascades and pond floor.
- In regions experiencing severe freezing winter temperatures, drain or lower water levels to avoid ice expansion stress on the concrete basin.
