Acacia caffra, commonly known as the Common Hook Thorn, is a hardy indigenous tree valued for its graceful spreading canopy, attractive grey-green foliage and distinctive hooked thorns. In spring to early summer it produces small, creamy-white, lightly scented flowers that attract bees and other pollinators.
This tree is well adapted to South African conditions and is widely used in large gardens, farms, game reserves and rehabilitation projects. It is drought-tolerant once established and provides excellent shade, habitat and food for wildlife.
