Product Details

Botanical Name: Vachellia sieberiana

Common Names: Paperbark Thorn, Papierbasdoring, Paper Bark Acacia

📌 Product Description

Vachellia sieberiana, commonly known as Paperbark Thorn or Papierbasdoring, is a striking indigenous tree recognised for its distinctive pale bark that peels in papery flakes. This unique bark gives the tree strong ornamental appeal even when not in leaf.

The tree develops a broad, spreading canopy with fine, feathery foliage typical of acacias. In summer, it produces round, fluffy yellow flower balls that attract pollinators and add seasonal interest.

Well adapted to South African savanna and bushveld conditions, this hardy tree is drought tolerant once established and is widely used in large gardens, estates, and wildlife-friendly landscapes.
