Product Description

The Touch Baby Pink Fan Flower (Scaevola aemula 'Touch Baby Pink') is a beautiful, compact flowering plant covered in delicate soft baby-pink, fan-shaped flowers. Its lush green foliage and naturally mounding, spreading habit make it particularly attractive in hanging baskets, where the flowering stems gently cascade over the edges.

Part of the TOUCH™ series, 'Touch Baby Pink' is selected for its controlled growth habit and abundant flowering. It produces flowers throughout the warm growing season and is well suited to sunny patios, balconies, entrances and garden containers. The plant is also valued for its tolerance of heat and challenging weather conditions.

The breeder's information indicates a 20–30 cm mature height, while nursery information describes a spreading/trailing habit particularly suited to containers and hanging displays.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, although it performs best outdoors in a bright, sunny position.

Pot Size

20 cm Hanging Basket

🌱 Recommended Growing Medium

For a 20 cm hanging basket, use a lightweight, fertile, well-drained potting medium.

Recommended mix:

• High-quality potting compost as the main medium
• Well-decomposed compost/organic matter for nutrient retention
• Perlite or pumice to improve aeration and drainage

Avoid heavy garden soil in the basket because the roots need good drainage and the basket should remain relatively lightweight.

🌸 Recommended Fertiliser

Because 'Touch Baby Pink' is grown primarily for its continuous, abundant flowering, use a fertiliser intended for flowering container plants.

At planting:

• Incorporate a controlled-release flowering fertiliser according to the manufacturer's recommended rate.

During active growth and flowering:

• Apply a water-soluble flowering fertiliser every 2–3 weeks, following the product label.
• Regular feeding is particularly useful in hanging baskets because nutrients can be lost through repeated watering.

Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can produce lots of foliage while reducing flowering.

Best Growing Conditions

• ☀️ Light: Full sun to very bright light
• 🌱 Soil: Fertile but well-drained
• 💧 Water: Water thoroughly when the growing medium begins to dry; don't allow the basket to remain waterlogged
• 🌸 Feeding: Regular feeding during active flowering
• ✂️ Pruning: Light trimming can maintain a neat, rounded shape
• 🌼 Deadheading: Generally unnecessary because Scaevola flowers are naturally self-cleaning.
