Coir Fibre is a natural, renewable growing material made from the fibrous husk of coconuts. It is a versatile addition to potting mixes, hanging baskets and garden soil, helping to retain moisture while maintaining good aeration around plant roots.
The fibrous structure also helps improve the physical structure of growing media, making it useful for container planting, propagation and general soil improvement.
Coir Fibre 500g can be used for:
Loose coir fibre is particularly useful in hanging baskets and as a fibrous mulch, while finer coir products are more commonly incorporated into growing media.
For general container planting, coir can be combined with potting soil, compost and other appropriate growing materials to improve moisture retention and aeration.
For long-term plant growth, don't rely on coir alone as the primary nutrient source; plants generally require an appropriate fertiliser program because coir itself provides limited nutrition.
