Botanical Name: Jacobaea maritima (formerly Senecio cineraria)
Common Names: Dusty Miller, Silver Ragwort, Cineraria
Dusty Miller is a compact, evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial grown primarily for its striking silver-grey, finely cut foliage. The soft, velvety leaves create beautiful contrast against green plants and brightly coloured flowers, making it a staple in formal bedding, borders, containers, and water-wise gardens.
Although it may produce small yellow flowers in late spring or summer, it is mainly valued for its ornamental foliage texture and colour. Hardy and adaptable, Dusty Miller performs well in South African coastal, temperate, and semi-arid regions.
