Iris Louisiana Mixed Colours (14cm Pot)

Product Description Iris Louisiana Mixed Colours is an adaptable, moisture-loving perennial celebrated for its wide-petaled, velvety blooms and vibrant architectural foliage. This mix features a stunning array of rich, saturated hues—ranging from deep royal purples, rich blues, and wine reds to warm coppers, golden yellows, and clean creams—often highlighted by intricate yellow or gold throat markings. Each bloom opens wide and flat, rising gracefully above fans of upright, sword-shaped emerald-green foliage.

Supplied established in a 14cm nursery container, this robust wetland-native perennial thrives across diverse landscape conditions. Highly versatile, it excels equally in standard garden beds with regular watering, boggy soils, rain gardens, and submerged up to 10cm deep in garden ponds and water feature shelves, making it a standout choice for adding vibrant colour and upright structure to waterscapes and moist borders.

🗡️ Stately Architectural Leaves: Upright sword-like fans add enduring structural height and lush greenery throughout the growing period

🐝 Pollinator Friendly: Nectar-rich blossoms attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial garden insects

🌿 Vigorous Naturaliser: Rhizomes expand steadily to form dense colonies that stabilise moist pond edges and bog margins

Care & Maintenance

Light: Position in an open, sunny to lightly dappled position. Full sun promotes sturdy stems and the most profuse flowering.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. If grown in garden beds rather than a pond, water thoroughly and frequently.
Pond Placement: When submerging in garden ponds or water features, set the pot on marginal shelves so the crown sits beneath 5cm to 10cm of standing water.
Feeding: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release organic fertiliser or water plant food tablet pressed into the root zone to encourage flower development.
Mulching: For in-ground garden beds, maintain a 5cm layer of organic compost or leaf mulch around the base to preserve essential soil moisture.
Grooming: Cut spent flowering stalks back to the base once flowering ends, and remove older brown outer leaves to keep clumps looking neat and healthy.
