Botanical Name: Pachypodium lamerei
Common Names: Madagascar Palm, False Halfmens
📌 Product Description
Pachypodium lamerei, widely known as the Madagascar Palm, is a striking architectural succulent tree with a thick, spiny trunk crowned by a rosette of long, glossy green leaves. Despite its palm-like appearance, it is a succulent and not a true palm.
Its water-storing trunk makes it highly drought-tolerant and ideal for water-wise gardens. Mature plants may produce elegant white, trumpet-shaped flowers in warm conditions. This species is popular as a bold statement plant for patios, courtyards, and large containers.
In South Africa, it is often mistakenly called “Halfmens,” though the true Halfmens is Pachypodium namaquanum.
