Product Name: Brunsfelsia floribunda
Botanical Name: Brunfelsia floribunda
Common Name: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (large-flowering form)

Product Description

Brunfelsia floribunda is an attractive evergreen shrub known for its large, fragrant flowers that change colour over several days, typically opening deep violet, fading to lavender, and finally turning white. This colour transition creates a striking multi-coloured effect on a single plant. It is well suited to garden beds, borders, shaded patios and large containers, and performs exceptionally well in many South African gardens with mild, frost-free climates.

Size When Fully Grown

• Height: Approximately 2 m – 4 m
• Spread: Around 2 m – 3 m
• Can be shaped and maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning.

Best Growing Conditions

• Light: Partial shade to light sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal, particularly in hot inland areas.
• Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Slightly acidic to neutral soil is preferred.
• Watering: Moderate and consistent watering. Keep soil evenly moist, especially during active growth and flowering, but avoid waterlogging.
• Temperature: Prefers warm, humid conditions. Sensitive to frost and cold winds; protect young plants in colder regions.
• Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring and again in summer to promote healthy growth and abundant flowering.
• Pruning: Light pruning after flowering encourages bushy growth and maintains shape.

• Planting & Seasonal Guidance (South Africa)

• Best Time to Plant: Spring to early summer, when soil temperatures are warm and plants establish quickly.
• Growing Season: Active growth occurs from spring through summer.
• Flowering Season: Main flowering is in spring, with possible repeat blooms in summer under favourable conditions.
• Winter Care: Growth slows in winter; reduce watering and protect from frost in cooler regions.
