Product Details

Botanical Name: Schotia brachypetala

Common Names: Weeping Boer-bean, Huilboerboon, Boerbean Tree

📌 Product Description

Schotia brachypetala, commonly known as the Weeping Boer-bean or Huilboerboom, is a magnificent indigenous tree renowned for its spectacular deep red flowers that drip with nectar. During flowering, the tree appears to “weep,” attracting birds, insects, and wildlife, hence its Afrikaans name.

This semi-deciduous tree develops a dense, rounded canopy with glossy green foliage, providing excellent shade. The striking flowers appear mainly in late winter to spring, creating a bold seasonal display when many other trees are not in bloom.

Highly valued in South African landscapes, the Weeping Boer-bean is ideal for large gardens, estates, and indigenous planting schemes.
