Product Details

Common Names: Monkey Thorn, Apiesdoring

📌 Product Description

Senegalia galpinii, commonly known as Monkey Thorn or Apiesdoring, is one of South Africa’s most iconic indigenous trees. It is valued for its massive spreading canopy, feathery foliage, and striking yellow flower spikes that appear in spring and summer.

The tree develops a broad, umbrella-like crown that provides excellent shade, making it a popular choice for large gardens, parks, and estates. The bark becomes dark and rough with age, adding to its character and visual appeal.

Highly adaptable and drought tolerant once established, Monkey Thorn is a key species in bushveld and savanna landscapes, supporting a wide range of wildlife.
