Agapanthus Poppin'® Pink (cultivar, Plant Breeder's Rights / PBR) is a breakthrough introduction from South Africa’s De Wet Plant Breeders (Andy De Wet & Quinton Bean). It represents one of the first true deep-pink flowering agapanthus cultivars, moving beyond the traditional blue, purple, and white spectrum.

Agapanthus Poppin Pink (15cm Pot)

Product Description Agapanthus Poppin Pink is an innovative, breakthrough perennial prized for its unique and vibrant pink flowering display. Setting itself apart from traditional blue and white varieties, it produces dense, rounded umbels packed with striking rose-pink, trumpet-shaped florets accented by subtle purplish-pink stripes. The dramatic flower heads rise neatly above compact, arching fans of lush, strap-like emerald green foliage.

Supplied established in a 15cm nursery container, this compact and clump-forming evergreen is exceptionally free-flowering, often reblooming throughout the warm summer months. Its tidy growth habit makes it an outstanding choice for modern container plantings, low formal hedges, massed garden borders, rockeries, and sunny patio accents.

Benefits

🌸 Unique Pink Floral Umbel: Exceptional rose-pink coloration provides an eye-catching alternative to standard blue varieties

🌿 Compact, Tidy Growth Habit: Stays neat and dense without spreading aggressively, ideal for patio pots and edging

☀️️ High Sun & Heat Resilience: Basks in hot, sunny garden conditions and demonstrates excellent heat tolerance

💧 Water-Wise Once Established: Possesses fleshy, water-storing rhizomes that withstand dry garden spells with ease

🐝 Pollinator Friendly: Nectar-packed florets attract butterflies, honeybees, and nectar-feeding birds

✂️ Long-Lasting Cut Flower: Sturdy flower spikes make enduring, decorative additions to fresh floral arrangements

Care & Maintenance

  • Light: Position in full direct sun for maximum bud formation and strong, upright flower stalks. Performs well in soft morning sun with light afternoon shade.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly once to twice weekly during the active spring and summer growing period. Reduce watering frequency once established as the fleshy root system stores moisture efficiently.
  • Feeding: Apply a balanced, slow-release 3:1:5 organic fertiliser or general flowering plant food in spring to promote continuous bud development.
  • Container Care: If grown in pots, ensure the container has clear drainage holes and use a quality, free-draining potting medium.
  • Grooming: Remove spent flower stalks right down to the base of the clump to keep the plant neat and direct energy into fresh foliage growth.
