Common Names: Golden Barrel Cactus, Mother-in-Law’s Cushion, Barrel Cactus
📌 Product Description
Echinocactus grusonii, commonly known as the Golden Barrel Cactus, is a striking, spherical succulent admired for its perfectly rounded form and dense ribs lined with golden-yellow spines. Its sculptural appearance makes it one of the most iconic architectural cacti used in modern xeriscaping and decorative container planting.
This slow-growing cactus develops a bold, geometric silhouette over time, often becoming a focal point in succulent gardens and arid-themed landscapes. It is exceptionally drought-tolerant and thrives in hot, dry conditions, making it ideal for water-wise gardening across South Africa.
In maturity, it may produce a crown of yellow flowers at the top during warm seasons, although this typically occurs in older, well-established specimens.
