Common Names: Buddha Belly Plant, Bottle Plant, Gout Plant, Coral Plant
📌 Product Description
Jatropha podagrica is a unique ornamental succulent shrub recognised for its distinctive swollen, bottle-shaped trunk and clusters of bright coral-red flowers. The thickened base stores water, giving the plant its characteristic “Buddha belly” appearance.
Large, rounded leaves grow on tall stems above the caudex, creating an attractive tropical look. The vivid red flower clusters are produced on upright stalks and can appear for long periods during warm seasons, making it a striking feature plant.
Highly suited to warm South African climates, this unusual plant is ideal for containers, patios, and succulent collections where its sculptural form can be appreciated.
⚠ Note: All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.
